Note that custom service-based contracts provided for hourly services may override certain information set forth here; however, anything noted in this document which is not explicitly stated in your agreement stands as stated here.
CLS Editorial Services is a company focused on making writers’ lives easier by allowing them to focus on the quality of written content, rather than the intricate details associated with editing. CLS Editorial Services is committed to providing affordable, exceptional, timely, and friendly editorial services. If at any point you are not satisfied, please contact me so that I might address your concerns. If the issue cannot be resolved to your satisfaction, I will issue a full or partial refund, to be determined at my discretion based on the completion-status of the project in question.
All editing services include up to two editing passes: the Editor will edit, then send writing project to Author for approval; Author will either accept or reject changes and address any of the Editor’s comments. The Author then has the option of returning the manuscript to the Editor, who will incorporate those changes or corrections into the writing project and clean the copy of editorial markings. If desired, the Author is welcome to incorporate changes or corrections on their own rather than returning project to the Editor for a second editing pass.
A Quick Note on Editing
My corrections do not represent any failures on the author’s part! It is nearly impossible to edit your own writing and be objective, which is why it is so important to work with an editor. Your job as a writer is incredibly intimidating—you’re literally creating something out of nothing! I recognize that being a writer requires courage, fortitude, and a whole lot of creativity. So please do not consider any editing suggestions to be a criticism of your abilities. As the author, you retain the final judgement call on your writing project, and at the end of the day, my editing suggestions are yours to do with as you will with no judgement from me whatsoever.
I always like to be upfront with my clients by letting them in on my day-to-day work schedule. While I am primarily a freelance editor, I also run my own editing business which means that I am also the manager, IT person, long-term planner, networking coordinator, social media manager, janitor, accounts receivable, sales, business development, everything. For every two hours of editing I complete, I’m usually doing one hour of other work at a minimum. As such, I will always make it clear from the start that proper scheduling is a priority. With this in mind, please understand that I will never commit to a deadline that I cannot meet; however, if you have a sudden need to expedite your project so that it is completed earlier than the agreed upon completion date, please let me know ASAP. I will always do my best to accommodate expedited service requests for an additional fee, but I am merely human and cannot create extra time out of thin air.
Editor agrees not to reproduce, give, or show to anyone any material sent to her by the Author for editing purposes, unless consulting services from a third party are agreed to.
Pricing and Payments Policy
All pricing rates for CLS Editorial Services have been carefully selected to be affordable, yet competitive. My overall goal is to provide affordable quality editing for writers. For current average pricing for freelance editors, feel free to check out the Editorial Freelancer’s Association.
For all project estimates over $100, I reserve the right to require a 50% deposit of the estimated cost prior to beginning any editorial services. All deposits will be applied to the final invoice amount.
At this time, all invoicing for CLS Editorial Services is completed via PayPal. You may make multiple payments if desired, so long as the total invoice amount is paid within 30 days of receipt. Overdue invoices are charged a 10% charge on the balance due, per month. Invoices that have not been paid within 3 months will be sent to collections.
Once the project is in process either party may terminate this Agreement in the event of material change of circumstance with 14 days’ notice sent in writing to the other party at the email address provided. If the Editor terminates the agreement, Author will pay the Editor for work done up to the date of termination, and Editor will refund overpayment. If the Author terminates the agreement, the Author will pay the Editor for the work completed up to the date of termination, but this amount will not be less than 50% of the estimated total for the project.
Limitations of Liability
No guarantees are made as to the salability or marketability of the edited writing project. Nor is there a guarantee that the project will be completely error-free, though all efforts will be made to make it so. I provide editing suggestions and advice in good faith and to improve documents according to our experience. Additionally, I am not responsible for omissions or errors in clients’ documents. Please check all documents carefully before publication. Unless a co-writing/co-authorship arrangement is made in writing, all royalties and monies gained by the sale of the book will be the sole property of the Author. Author agrees that the grading of all academic writing projects is the sole responsibility of the Author and that academic editing services performed by the Editor do not guarantee favorable scoring by independent instructors. If you have any doubts about the content or legality of your publication (for example, issues to do with libel, slander, plagiarism, copyright infringement, due credit), I recommend that you raise this with your organization, and contact your lawyer for legal advice. CLS Editorial Services is not responsible for the content or legality of your publication.
Both parties agree that any editorial agreements and contracts shall be interpreted and governed by the laws of the State of Utah.
Accepting the Terms and Conditions of CLS Editorial Services

Therefore, it is in your best interest to read these carefully and advise me of any issues before we begin working together.
